SMS Channel Setup

SMS outreach via the platform requires A2P 10DLC registration and must comply with TCPA requirements. This module covers compliance, registration, and SMS sequence configuration.

Legal requirements — read before sending

TCPA compliance is mandatory. You must have prior express written consent to send commercial SMS messages. Texting someone without consent can result in fines of $500–$1,500 per message. Do not use SMS for cold outreach without proper consent workflows.

Appropriate SMS use cases

A2P 10DLC registration

All business SMS in the U.S. must be sent via registered 10-digit long code (10DLC) under A2P (Application-to-Person) regulation. This prevents carriers from filtering your messages as spam.

1 — Register your brand

Settings → SMS → Brand Registration. Enter legal company name, EIN, business type, and contact information.

2 — Register your campaign use case

Describe your SMS use case (marketing, customer care, appointment reminders). Choose the most accurate category.

3 — Wait for approval

Registration takes 1–5 business days. You will receive a confirmed Campaign ID. SMS is locked until this is active.

Configuring SMS steps in sequences

After 10DLC approval, add SMS steps to sequences. Configure: message text (160 char limit for single segment), send window (9AM–8PM recipient time zone enforced by platform), opt-out keyword handling (STOP, CANCEL, QUIT — all handled automatically).
