Personalization rules change what visitors see based on where they came from, who they are, or what they've done before. This significantly increases relevance and conversion rates.
Rule Types
- UTM-based — show different content based on the UTM source or campaign in the URL
- Geographic — show city/state-specific content to visitors from those areas
- Industry-based — use Clearbit or similar enrichment to show industry-specific messaging
- Account-based — show personalized content to visitors from specific target accounts (requires reverse-IP lookup integration)
- Return visitor — show different messaging to repeat visitors than first-time visitors
Creating a Rule
Under Microsite Generator → [Page] → Personalization → Add Rule:
- Select trigger type (UTM, geography, etc.)
- Define the condition (e.g., UTM source = "linkedin")
- Select which page elements change
- Edit the alternate content for those elements
- Save and publish
High-impact personalization example
If UTM source = linkedin → Change headline from generic offer to "Built for teams that run outbound on LinkedIn." Same page, same offer, significantly higher LinkedIn-sourced conversion rate.
